On this episode, we speak with Chajuanna “CJ” Gathers. She’s a graduate of Benedict College. Chajuanna is a higher ed. professional and the founder of “The W.E. Group” a woman’s empowerment group based in Charleston, SC. Her organization’s purpose is to help provide emotional & spiritual healing, overall wellness, and to promote dreams, visions & goals of women.
During the episode, we discuss his HBCU experience, her career and her impactful organization.
Chajuanna “CJ” Gathers is a Benedict College Alumni, graduating in 2007 where she obtained her Bachelor’s in Religion & Philosophy. She spent 1 year at Claflin University (which is worth mentioning because of the great connections made there). She’s currently working on obtaining her MBA degree, and aspires to obtain her Ph.D. in future years. Currently an Admissions Professional at Strayer University. Education is important to CJ, particularly higher education.
She was born in Bronx, NY, and grew up in Charleston, SC, where her Father was a pastor. She comes from a long line of preachers and motivational speakers; such as her father, mother, uncle, grand-mother, grand-father & great grand-mother just to name a few. Understanding at an early age that our experiences don’t just belong to us, but they are to help others, she’s never been afraid of using her own life as a sharable testimony. She’s always been one to encourage friends as well as strangers. Whether it be with a kind word, a funny story, a message of hope, or just a listening ear. Helping and encouraging others is a part of her DNA.
Through challenging life experiences, Chajuanna developed a passion for uplifting and empowering others, specifically women. She recently launched “The W.E. Group” a woman’s empowerment group in Charleston, SC. Its purpose is emotional & spiritual healing, overall wellness, and to promote dreams, visions & goals of women. She hosts Empowerment Assemblies designed to discuss REAL topics in an intimate and safe environment. The W.E. Group also has frequent campaigns where they give back to the local community.
