Davie currently serves as a Health Communication Specialist at the CDC the nation’s leading public health agency. He was recently thrust into the spotlight as a contestant on CBS’ Survivor and can now be found doing at speaking engagements and charity events. During this episode, we discuss his HBCU legacy, his rise to reality TV stardom and his love for Tuskegee.
Davie Rickenbacker is a Health Communications Specialist and Contractor for Cherokee Nation Business at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). He currently works with the Division of Public Health Information Dissemination (DPHID) in the Center for Surveillance, Epidemiology & Laboratory Service (CSELS) at the CDC’s Century Center location. Before rejoining the CDC, Davie was a contestant on the hit reality television series ‘Survivor’ on CBS network. The theme of his season was David versus Goliath, where he was a finalist finishing 6th place out of 20. Before leaving to play Survivor, Davie worked as a Health Communications Specialist and Contractor for Global Government Solutions Corporation (G2S Corp) in the Division of Global Health. He started his career with the CDC as an ORISE fellow for the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) also as a Health Communications Specialist.
Davie holds both an MPH and a B.S. degree from Tuskegee University. Davie is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated and founder of the Young Black Public Health Network, an organization that aids in career matters and public health matters amongst African Americans. A native of Orangeburg, South Carolina he possesses high ideals and an unquenchable desire to achieve, with a passion for the optimal health and wellness for animals and humans alike.
