Chekwas Okafor is a Nigerian fashion designer. He currently resides in Upstate New York. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Voorhees College in Denmark, South Carolina.
Okafor is the founder of ONYCHEK.com, an online retailer for luxury fashion from Africa. ONYCHEK is making luxury fashion easily accessible to the world while educating consumers about the African luxury space through the company’s blog, THE INSIGHT.
Okafor had the passion for fashion when his friend introduced him to work with upcoming Nigerian designers. This initiative inspired him to introduce his African luxury fashion e-commerce website, ONYCHEK.
ONYCHEK was a name originated by his dad’s company which imported textiles from China to Nigeria. The website launched in September 2016 with the aim of introducing African customary and accessories for men and women solely by African designers. The designers come from all over the continent and include such household names as Kenya’s Adele Dejak and South Africa’s MaXhosa by Laduma.
In the next five years, he has hopes of becoming the world’s most compelling destination for made in Africa luxury fashion through ONYCHEK.
